Firm fined over crane accident
A Lancashire firm has been fined after three workers narrowly escaped injury when a 35-tonne truck overturned.
The accident happened during the construction of a new fire control centre in Warrington in February 2007, when when a crane support sank into the ground, causing the crane to tip over.
The driver leapt to safety and two workers escaped injury after a 5.7 tonne beam crashed to the ground in the construction accident at a building site.
Leach Structural Steelwork Ltd was fined £10,000 and ordered to pay costs of £9,143 at Warrington Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to breaching Health and Safety laws. The main contractor AMEC Group Ltd, was also fined £10,000.
